This consultation seeks views of businesses, manufacturers, retailers, producers and enforcement authorities on draft regulations implementing Directive 2004/108/EC of the European Parliament and the Council on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to electromagnetic compatibility and repealing Directive 89/336/EEC. This consultation does not seek views on the provisions of the Directive itself but on our proposed interpretation of it.
Directive 2004/108/EC regulates the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) of both apparatus and fixed installations. The Directive aims to reduce the regulatory burden on manufacturers as compared to the previous Directive. Notified Body involvement will be voluntary. There are new regulatory requirements for fixed installations.
