This document sets out the Government's response to the second stage of the Public Consultation process reviewing UK Assisted Areas. The Government's response includes the Assisted Areas map (for the period 2007-2013) being sent to the European Commission for approval.
When approved by the Commission, the new map will be implemented into UK legislation and take effect from January 2007. It will replace the current map which expires on 31 December 2006. The review was in response to new European Commission guidelines on regional aid published last December.
