Child-resistant and novelty lighter requirements

The DTI has opened a four-week consultation on proposals to implement the European Commission decision on child-resistant lighters and novelty lighters.

The decision calls on Member States to put in place measures to prevent (as from 11th March 2007) the placing on the market of disposable lighters that do not have a child-resistant mechanism and all novelty lighters.
