The Public Participation Directive 2003/35/EC implements the 1998 Aarhus Convention for increased public access to environmental information and greater participation in the environmental decision-making process. The requirements of the Directive affect two Regulations administered by DTI for the offshore oil and gas industry:  the `Offshore Petroleum Production and Pipe-lines (Assessment of Environmental Effects) Regulations 1999’; and the `Offshore Combustion Installations (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Regulations 2001’.

This Consultation seeks your views on DTI's proposals for amending the above mentioned Regulations in accordance with the provisions of the Public Participation Directive.
