Emerging Energy Technologies

In the UK the Prime Minister has said, that in the light of the Government's general policy to focus on the climate, reliability of energy supplies and affordability for the customer, it will publish a policy statement on energy policy in 2006 which will examine all the options for future UK energy policy.

The Technology Programme's support for relevant industry-led R&D is therefore only one part of a wider range of support initiatives for emerging energy technologies. These include the Research Council Energy Programme and several DTI capital grant demonstration programmes. The Carbon Trust amongst others also supports technology development across a portfolio of technologies.

Activity to date:

The Technology Programme also funds a Knowledge Transfer Network in the fuel cells and low Carbon area.
