The Global Policy and Integration (GPI) Team

The role of The Global Policy and Integration Team of the Office of Science and Innovation is to co-ordinate the UK Government's policy interests in science, technology and innovation links with countries outside the EU.

The Global Policy Teams Core Activities

  • Acts as secretariat to the Chief Scientific Adviser's Global Science and Innovation Forum (GSIF).  
  • Works to maintain strong bilateral relations in S&T with a wide range of partner countries throughout the world.
  • This includes organising and overseeing high level bilateral visits and meetings, either to maintain established relationships with countries such as Japan and the USA, or to build new relationships with emerging nations such as China, India, South Africa and Brazil. Includes Joint Commissions with China, India, Japan, Russia & South Korea.
  • Funds international initiatives to promote research collaboration. Includes matched-funding networking schemes with China, India, South Africa and South Korea.
