The Office of Science and Innovation is currently looking to recruit new sponsors for the 2007-08 cohort of students for the DHPA scheme. Some of the UK’s top R&D companies are already involved in it and their positive feedback confirms the students awarded a DHPA scholarship are of a very high calibre.
The scheme has been running successfully for 3 years and it’s aim is to attract the brightest research talent from China, India, Hong Kong, Africa, Russia and other emerging economies to study for PhDs in the UK’s top universities. It was launched by the Prime Minister in November 2003 and has sponsored over 390 students to date. It is unique in that it is a public-private funded partnership founded on, and driven by, scientific excellence and relevance to the sponsors.
