Chief Scientific Adviser's Committee (CSAC)

The Chief Scientific Adviser's Committee (CSAC) is the principal committee at official level dealing with issues relating to science, engineering and technology (SET). Its membership consists of the Government Chief Scientific Adviser, Professor John Beddington, acting as the Chair, and the Chief Scientific Advisers or their equivalent from all government departments and devolved administrations.

CSAC's terms of reference are to consider and advise the Government Chief Scientific Adviser on issues of relevance to Her Majesty's Government (and the devolved administrations) concerning SET.
