Working in Partnership to Improve Grievance Resolution
Derbyshire Constabulary, UNISON, the Derbyshire Police Federation, and the Derbyshire Black Police Association will be working in collaboration to develop and implement a new procedure for resolving grievances. Through employee consultation and research into alternative methods of resolution, they aim to produce a new policy for grievance resolution based on the research, best practice, and contribution of all partners. They will also develop dissemination and marketing materials to raise awareness of the new policy, and deliver training programmes to support its implementation. The overall aims of this project will be to develop employee support mechanisms, improve efficiency, adopt a joint problem solving approach, improve working relationships, and embed the principles of partnership and joint problem solving into the organisational culture.

Proposal for Partnership Working between British Footwear Association and KFAT
British Footwear Association with KFAT and the TUC Partnership Institute are seeking to support three companies in the footwear industry to introduce flexible working in the workplace, using a partnership approach. UR in Partnership
United Response is aiming to use a partnership approach to develop a new competency framework for staff, and then build and deliver a new training and development programme, equipping staff with the necessary skills and abilities to work effectively in this environment. The aim is to give greater job satisfaction and help the organisation to achieve its aim of providing consistently high quality services. The project aims to achieve this by developing a mentoring programme, and training and developing potential managers with a positive action initiative to develop staff from minority ethnic groups. The project will be overseen by a joint staff/management team who will who will hold focus groups with staff and send questionnaires to employees. Through this project, United Response hope to see a reduction in staff turnover, an increase in length of service, improvement in staff performance, an increase in staff satisfaction, an increase in retention of business, a reduction in agency staff usage, and reduced sickness levels.

Work-Life Balance – Developing Best Practice through a Partnership Approach
Oxford Brookes University, NAFTHE, and the Oxford Brookes Administrators’ Forum are seeking to develop work-life balance best practice through a partnership approach, with the aim of improving employee job satisfaction, performance, and the recruitment and retention of staff. They also hope to achieve consistency in the way line managers implement policies and enable staff to contribute towards development of work-life balance. They aim to improve communication of existing policies and practices by making information fully accessible via brochures and web-sites, and by ensuring that the Equal Opportunity and Diversity Co-ordinators have the necessary knowledge to offer support on work life balance issues. All three partners will be involved in a working party to review relevant policies, and good practice will be shared through seminars for managers and online good practice guides to be compiled.

The project will identify and develop key skills and behaviours under Partnership for Trade Union representatives and managers, enhance the quality of communications, and design and implement initiatives that measure the impact, performance and effectiveness of Partnership, plus the skills and behaviours of the key stakeholders within it.
