Champions of People
NHS Professionals (West Yorkshire Metropolitan Ambulance Service NHS Trust), the NHSU, the GMB, UNISON and the Royal College of Nursing are working together to reform and modernise traditional joint consultative mechanisms.
They aim to influence and develop the discretionary behaviour of middle managers, so that they become the 'champions of people' and nurture a partnership approach, as well as strengthening the presence, role and competence of union reps. They intend to establish key performanceindicators in order to support and quantify reduction of people related conflict.

La Baguette Doree with BFAWU hope to develop a joint framework of communication, training and involvement. Community Company Governance Project
School Trend Ltd with Sheffield Hallam University will be researching alternative forms of corporate governance involving partnership between the workforce and employers, in order to produce their own legally binding governance model building on the Community Company ethos. They intend to set up a council which involves elected representatives of employees and which will make policy and procedural decisions on areas such as fair pay.

A Partnership Approach to Alternate Dispute Resolution in the Workplace Through an Advisory and Mediation Service
City of Bradford Metropolitan District Councilwill be working with UNISONin order to facilitate a change in the organisations ethos so that a cooperative approach is used to handle all workplace difficulties. They will seek to enhance and expand the Advisory and Mediation Service by having a volunteer advisor mediators cohort, thus ensuring more of a representative workforce.

Releasing the Bottleneck
The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in partnership with staff aims to implement a culture change programme and develop partnership working. All managers and staff will attend a 3-day partnership workshop facilitated jointly by management and staff side representatives. A joint steering group will manage this venture, and set up sub-groups to address specific partnership assignments.

Sheffield Hallam University is working with the Joint Union Committee to build on the partnership process already in place by extending it to involve all employees.
A survey will be carried out in order to ascertain how employees wish to be informed and consulted in the future. The aim is to develop an overarching information, consultation and participation framework agreement. The agreement will need to have the support of all employees and will meet the requirements of the new information consultative legislation.

Partners Promoting Partnership
Calderdale and Kirklees NHS Primary Care Trusts with AMICUS, Local Community and District Nursing Association, Local Royal College of Nursing and UNISON are striving to achieve a transformation in the employee relations' environment by breaking down traditional barriers. They will internally recruit and train four individuals to fulfil the role of general union convenor. They will endeavour to develop a network of non trade union accredited staff advocates amongst their workforce. The latter will assist them in their desire to develop a positive work culture in which there is a significant reduction of incidences of bullying and harrassment. They also intend to improve two-way communication for managers and staff both horizontally and vertically throughout the organisation.

Both organisations are committed to delivering coherent training programmes for all divisions to ensure staff gain necessary skills to work in partnerships and develop the whole group.
