Highway impacts
The transportation of turbine components and material during the construction of sites can have a temporary impact on the public highway network, particularly if highway improvements are required for the delivery of large turbine components. If the highway improvements lie outside the existing highway verge, they will require planning consent. Such works, and any post-construction restoration, can be required through a suitable planning agreement or obligation.
Roadstone
Access via site roads to individual turbines for construction and maintenance purposes is required on wind farms. The construction of such roads requires significant quantities of aggregate, although developers sometimes obtain the necessary stone from on-site borrow pits.
