World Summit on Sustainable Development

The 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), held in Johannesburg, reaffirmed the international community’s commitment to sustainable development. It agreed to substantially increase the global share of renewable energy sources to 14 per cent by 2010.

At the WSSD, the UK announced an international partnership to promote the growth of renewable energy and energy-efficient partnership (REEEP) .
