CCS Demonstration Competition
The processes involved in CCS are not novel but have yet to be demonstrated together at commercial scale on power generation. In the 2007 Budget, the Government announced that it would launch a competition to develop the UK’s first full-scale demonstration of carbon capture and storage. When operational early in the next decade, this will make the UK a world leader in this globally important new technology.
The Energy White Paper provided further details and set an aim for launching the competition by November 2007.
