How do I apply for funding under the ETF?
The ETF will be operational from April 2008. BERR and DEFRA and their delivery agents will publicise opportunities for funding under existing or new activities via their websites and in the usual way when funding becomes available.
How will new activities and projects be selected?
BERR and DEFRA in consultation with industry are developing a set of aims, objectives and success measures for the ETF. New programmes of activities will be identified according to their contribution to these objectives.
Will this mean any changes for existing funding programmes or projects being funded under those programmes?
No. Existing programmes will continue as now.
Are you recycling unspent funding from schemes that have closed, eg where projects couldn't go ahead?
No. We may look to create successor programmes according to their potential contribution to ETF objectives. These will take into account the availability of other forms of support, for example through a banded Renewables Obligation.
Are you closing the Marine Renewable Deployment Fund (MRDF) or any of the other existing programmes?
As stated in the 2007 Energy white paper: meeting the energy challenge, progress towards full commercialisation of wave and tidal technologies has been slower than expected. As a result the MRDF has moved to an open all basis so it can fund proposals at any time. But it is right that we keep this and other schemes under review to ensure that they are the most appropriate tools to helping these technologies develop and factors in changes to the Renewables Obligation.
