TrustMark
The Government developed the Trustmark initiative in conjunction with industry and consumer organisations, specifically for the domestic building repair, maintenance and improvement sector. TrustMark aims to raise standards and empower consumers by helping them identify reputable building firms that meet a set of competence and customer-care standards. TrustMark was launched to consumers on 30 January 2006.
Schemes that deliver the agreed standards are approved to use the TrustMark brand by TrustMark Ltd, a non-profit company limited by guarantee. The Board of TrustMark Ltd comprises an equal number of industry and consumer representatives. It retains ownership of the brand, which it licenses to TrustMark Ltd.

The TrustMark replaces the Quality Mark scheme which closed on 31 December 2004. If you have a complaint about a job undertaken by a Quality Mark firm you should phone 0845 300 80 40.
Finding a builder – non-domestic work
The TrustMark scheme does not extend to non-domestic work. However, if you need to find a builder for non-domestic work, there are trade organisations that are able to provide advice on how to select a builder and in some cases details of members able to undertake building work.
