The Manufacturing and Materials (MM), Unit works closely with Materials community seeking out opportunities where working together where we can seize global advantage for the benefit of companies operating in the UK.

Materials Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN)

This is an overarching network of networks in materials formed to enable the exchange of knowledge and the stimulation of innovation across the whole of the materials community. The KTN is independently funded by BERR (Now Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), but it is strategically linked to Materials UK and shares a common Chairman in Wyn Jones of Alcan UK.

Technology Strategy Board (TSB)

The TSB promotes innovation by investing in programmes and projects, spreading knowledge, understanding policy, spotting opportunities and bringing people together to solve problems or make new advances. The TSB have identified a number of technology areas (KTAs) and application areas where their efforts will be focused. The TSB uses a targeted approach to other activities - particularly Innovation Platforms and Emerging technologies.

NAMTEC

NAMTEC were established in 2002 to provide technical information and advice to metals and manufacturing companies across the UK to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of the metals and related engineering industries.

The National Composites Network

The National Composites network is a unique Knowledge Transfer Network jointly funded by government and industry that embraces the entire UK Composites industry and its supply chain.
