UK Export Control E-Learning

Details of web-based training tools and online learning provided by the Export Control Organisation and by Cranfield University in association with the Export Group for Aerospace and Defence (EGAD)

The Academy provides a range of web enabled information. This falls into the following areas:

Databases

Goods Checker Database

The Goods Checker is a web-based search tool that enables exporters to search the UK Strategic Export Control Lists (the listing of controlled goods). It provides additional information on the goods covered including pictures and explanations as to why the goods are controlled. One word of warning, in using the database you need to be careful to use generic terms. If your search term is not recognised, you should not assume that your item does not require a licence. If in doubt speak the Export Control Organisation.

OGEL Checker Database

This is a web-based search tool to help exporters find out whether there are any Open General Export Licences (OGELs) they may be able to use when exporting their goods, software or technology. The database guides exporters through the terms and conditions of each selected OGEL. It is a requirement for all OGEL holders to read and adhere to all terms and conditions. OGEL Checker is a guide to which OGEL might be applicable for your particular export.
