This Group will make recommendations and develop an Action Plan that:
Identifies key facts and figures on performance in the industry, its strengths and weaknesses, size, robustness and competitiveness, and which then goes on to consider performance indicators of success through to 2025. Where key trends emerge they will be identified. The KPIs will be prioritised and short listed with emphasis on key leading indicators.
It will also seek to identify and benchmark world leaders in their field and clarify through case studies as necessary, the reasons for their success. It will incorporate latest findings of the Harbour report (should that become available to the Group) and incorporate research undertaken by BERR and the University of Cambridge. This will include where possible international comparisons of national performance and where appropriate findings of the SMMT state of industry review.
The Group will develop and offer for the main NAIGT to consider, a prioritised list of key recommended KPIs. In designing metrics and where practicable the recommended underlying metrics should be aligned to those incorporated in the Manufacturing Review.
The Group will provide an interim set of findings for the main NAIGT to consider during September 2008.
