Welcome to BERR’s Electronics and IT Services sectors page
The Electronics and IT Services sectors account for approximately 4% of the UK’s gross domestic product and employ around 1 million people, but their real impact goes far wider as a facilitator of improved efficiency in other sectors and improved performance in numerous products and services, which collectively impact on all aspects of our daily lives.
BERR’s Electronics and IT Services Unit (EITSU) works in partnership with key stakeholders such as the Information Age Partnership, the Electronics Leadership Council and the Photonics Leadership Group to promote the competitiveness of these sectors.
The Unit focuses on the following sectors:
and promotes their competitiveness primarily by helping to:
- identify future strategies, areas of growth potential, drivers and challenges.
- influence domestic and European regulatory policy that may impact on the sectors’ competitiveness.

- promote skills development
