Improving the Impact Assessment Process

The Impact Assessment process is subject to continuous review, to ensure it is as effective as it can be.

In 2006, the Better Regulation Executive consulted on reforms to the process and in April 2007 the Government published its response to this Consultation.

The IA process was amended to reflect the findings of the Consultation. The new process is designed to promote greater transparency and ensure the benefits of new interventions outweigh any regulatory burdens they impose.
