The Employment Law Guidance Programme aims to:
Since its inception, the Guidance Programme has produced and promoted free-to-use and legally-compliant online tools, proforma letters and agreement forms, accessible via the BusinessLink.gov website. These tools make it quick and straightforward for employers to manage and comply with commonly-occurring employment law obligations.
The Guidance Programme has also focused on wider business culture messages about how to avoid unnecessary and costly over-compliance with employment law obligations – in particular around records-keeping. These have been delivered to the business community through engagement with key employer organisations and trade associations: at events and conferences; and by way of direct mailing and email campaigns to over 1 million businesses.
In 2008, the Department commissioned ORC International to conduct a survey to measure progress in relation to its objective to reduce administrative burdens associated with employment law. The final survey report and technical summary are published here.
