Employment Market Analysis and Research (EMAR)
Employment Market Analysis and Research (EMAR) is as a multidisciplinary team of economists, social researchers and statisticians based in the Employment Relations Directorate of BIS.
Our role is to provide the evidence base for good policy making in employment relations, labour market and equality and discrimination at work. We do this through:
- Conducting periodic socio-economic benchmark surveys
- Commissioning external research projects and reports
- Conducting in-house research and analysis
- Assessing the regulatory impact of new employment laws and programmes
- Monitoring and evaluating of the impact of government policies
We publicly disseminate results of this research through the BIS Employment Relations Research Series. All reports are available as a downladable pdf and more recently published reports are also available in hard copy from the BIS Publications website. Employment Relations Research Series
All publications that appear on EMAR web pages can be downloaded free of charge. Some reports can be ordered in hard copy by phone from the BIS Publications Orderline 0845 015 0010 (+44 845 015 0010) or email them at publications@bis.gsi.gov.uk quoting the URN (Unique Reference Number) and the Employment Relations Research Series number.
EMAR Datasets
To facilitate secondary research and to preserve its data for the future EMAR deposits its major survey datasets with the UK Data Archive (UKDA). Researchers, students and teachers from any field, organisation or country may register with the UKDA to download datasets and supporting documentation.
