Employment Market Analysis and Research (EMAR) is as a multidisciplinary team of economists, social researchers and statisticians based in BIS.

EMARs research results are publicly disseminated through the BIS Employment Relations Research Series. All reports are available as a free-of-charge PDF. More recently published reports can be requested in hard copy from the BIS Publications website.

BIS normally publish Impact Assessments as an annex to a consultation document or response to a consultation document. There is a central list of IA's that are published as individual documents. If you are looking for a specific IA, you should check the relevant consultation page first.
To facilitate secondary research and to preserve its data for the future EMAR deposits its major survey datasets with the UK Data Archive (UKDA). Researchers, students and teachers from any field, organisation or country may register with the UKDA to download datasets and supporting documentation.

Research projects are normally contracted out to independent research organisations, academics and consultancies following a competitive tendering process. BIS welcomes expressions of interest in specific projects, but these must demonstrate research experience of direct relevance to the particular project. BIS reserves the right to draw up its own lists of potential contractors, and submission of an expression of interest does not guarantee receipt of an invitation to tender.
