How To Get Help

There are many sources of assistance available if you are having problems paying fuel bills or with keeping warm affordably:

Warm Front & Home Energy Efficiency Schemes in Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland

This scheme, funded by Defra, is the Government's main mechanism for tackling fuel poverty in the private sector in England. A Warm Front grant of £2,700 or £4,000 (if oil central heating has been recommended) can provide a package of insulation and heating tailored to each property.

Eligibility criteria can be accessed on the Eaga Plc website or by contacting Eaga Partnership Ltd, who are the scheme manager administering Warm Front across England at:

Eaga will also be able to provide advice on each of the schemes in operation in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Alternatively, contact the Scottish Executive, Welsh Assembly or NI Department for Social Development.

Home Heat Helpline (0800 33 66 99)

This is an initiative supported by energy suppliers, aimed at helping to reduce the number of fuel-poor households.  The main purpose of the helpline is to encourage vulnerable customers to speak with their energy suppliers either directly or through third parties. The helpline is staffed by trained advisers who can carry out a preliminary assessment of callers' benefit entitlement. They are also linked to each energy supplier's priority care team.
