Business support at the local level
The Business Support Simplification Programme has streamlined publicly funded business support at the national, regional and local level through one, transparent, easy to find portfolio of products under the readily identifiable banner, Solutions for Business.
Local authorities are key partners in the drive to streamline services and join-up them up for businesses.
'Business Support at the Local Level' published jointly by BERR and CLG aims to help local authorities understand the implications of Solutions for Business and simplification. It also sets out how they fit with the Local Performance Framework and the Review of Sub-National Economic Development and Regeneration (SNR).

Over the last few months a number of local authorities have been trialling aspects of Solutions for Business to enable smooth delivery. This was with a view to help ensure simplification works for local authorities and meets business needs. Participating areas included Croydon Council, Newham Council, Cornwall County Council, Lincolnshire County Council, Nottingham City Council and Tees Valley Group of Councils. The final report for this project has now been published.
