5 February 2010The European Union has imposed further restrictive sanction measures on Iran. As a result the UK has introduced legislation which implements these new restrictions via a new Order - the Export Control (Iran) (Amendment) Order 2010. For more details of the changes see Notice to Exporters 2010/06.
1 February 2010The ECO has just launched a Customer Satisfaction Survey which is issued via the SPIRE export licensing database. For background details about the launch of the survey see Notice to Exporters 2010/05. We look forward to receiving your feedback!
27 January 2010If you export or are intending to export to North Korea then you should be aware of amendments to sanctions on North Korea. These amendments are detailed in European Union Council Regulations and UK implementing legislation. For the latest information see Notice to Exporters 2010/04.
26 January 2010The department has issued an amendment order to the Export Control Order 2008 which includes the introduction of controls on electro-statically powered bomb detectors. To view further details see Notice to Exporter 2010/03. This will result in an update of the UK Strategic Export Control Lists. The updated list is available at:

20 January 2010The Export Control Organisation website will shortly be changing. All ECO customers are strongly advised to read Notice to Exporters 2010/02 which provides advanced notification about the planned website changes.
13 January 2010A number of Open General Export Licences have been amended to add Sri Lanka to the list of excluded destinations. The new licences come into force on 15th January 2010. For more details to see which licences are affected see Notice to Exporters 2010/01

The ECO has issued 2 new Notices with legislative updates:

  • Notice to Exporters 2009/26 provides links to the newly published and amended Open General Export Licences (OGELs). which come into force following the adoption of EU Sanctions on the Republic of Guinea. The new licences come into force on Monday 30th November 2009 following the adoption of EU Sanctions on the Republic of Guinea.
  • Notice to Exporters 2009/27 provides details of the Cluster Munitions (Prohibitions) Bill which was introduced in the Queen's Speech on 19th Novembe
