Construction People Issues

Construction is very much a People industry. The success of every project relies on the combined efforts of many skilled people: trades people; technicians, administrators, professionals and managers.

To keep pace with the demands of clients, and changing regulations, everyone needs to ensure they have the knowledge and capabilities to deliver a quality project on time, to budget, and safely.

As sponsoring Unit in Government for construction, Construction Sector Unit works with industry bodies and Departments across Government to help address a wide range of policy challenges relevant to those who work in construction. Our aim is to champion the legitimate needs of the industry, promote good practice and industry improvement, and help the industry take full advantage of relevant Government support programmes.

We work with a range of partners including: the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), the Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills (DIUS), the Learning and Skills Council, Job Centre Plus, HM Revenue and Customs, and the Borders Agency.
