The Publishing and Computer Games team in BERR's Communication and Content Industries Unit, facilitates and provides the Secretariat for the Research Communications Forum. The Forum includes representatives from Government, Funding bodies, Libraries and Publishers.
The Research Communications Forum aims to provide:
- The first forum where funding bodies, libraries and the publishing industry could meet regularly to exchange views and develop a better understanding of each other's needs and views.
- A forum where consultation and collaboration between the public and private sector can be stimulated and new concepts explored,
- A forum that seeks to find areas where stakeholders can work together to advance research communication.
The inaugural meeting took place in November 2004. Forum meetings take place twice a year, with additional themed conferences taking place twice a year. Documentation relating to the Forum including the terms of reference, membership and meeting notes can be found at the links below.
Although BERR provides the Secretariat and Chair, the agenda for the Forum is set by the members. Key topics raised in the Forum so far include access to publicly-funded research, library funding and the role of institutional repositories.
